What we learned this issue besides that the X-Me BURP! need to BEEEELCH! fight the brood BLAAAAAAAAUUUUGHGHGHGHHGHGGHGH.... BLUAGHH! BLAUGH HUAGH HUGHGLGLGLGE!
WHAT THE FUCK STOP BELCHING ALREADY YOU FUCKING X-BURPS!BROOD FIRE BELCH!
CHICKS HATE BELCHES!
COLOSSUS SNAPS HIS NECK LIKE A BOSS BECAUSE HE HAS HAD ENOUGH GOD DAMN BELCHES!
MADELYNE, GROSS.
OK THAT IS THE LAST ONE I SWEAR.
HAHA NO JUST KIDDING THAT WAS THE LAST ONE.
I don't know why (probably sloth) but I decided to go a little belch-heavy with the cartoons for this issue. Look, burps are funny to me. I think they get over shadowed by farts a little, because farts are just so god damn funny. However, belches, and queefs, deserve their fair share of the gas expulsion humor gags.
Any fucking how, the X-Tums decide that it's cool to go ahead and waste these brood bags and end up annihilating them in pretty short order. It's nice to see the team not hold back and it's a good reminder of just how powerful these fucking mutants really are. Hey, maybe the world actually has a pretty good excuse to fear and hate them after all.
The preacher guy introduced in this arc doesn't have much of a pay off in the end but Claremont gives enough characterization to him and his wife to make his 'sermon' about mutants and people and yadda-yadda-yadda bearable.
And except for one of the paramedics, who I am pretty sure is still a brood but somehow escaped the attention of the X-Wads at the end of the issue, all the brood are killed and everyone goes home. And the X-Pals get some positive publicity for saving Denver. However the Madelyne Pryor subplots takes a serious turn, as she has basically gone nuts/been corrupted by the evil demon S'ym. That's the demon that took over hell, wait, I'm sorry, this is the PG Marvel Universe, the demon took over 'Limbo' after Colossus' sister was kidnapped and raped for 7 years by the former prince of hell/limbo, Belesco. Later, Magik (Colossus' sister) would take over Limbo and made S'ym her bitch. S'ym is also a parody of the independent comic book creator, Dave Sim, who used to parody Chris Claremont and the X-Men in his comic book, Cerebus.
YES COMICS ARE AWESOME, PLEASE TRY AND KEEP UP.
Anyway, Madelyne Pryor is now an inconvenient loose plot thread since that Cyclops has ditched her and taken the baby to hang out with the original X-Men, including his resurrected dead ex-girlfriend, Jean Grey, who was not really dead but buried at the bottom of Jamaica Bay off Long Island, in the ongoing, editorial mandated series, X-Factor. So Claremont needs to ret-con Madelyne and so he basically decided to turn her into a clone (spoiler alert) who then turns into an evil sorceress, the Goblin Queen.
But that's later. In the immediate future is a trip to the made up island nation of Genosha for an apartheid parable. Hooray for morals in comic books!
